user interface design

USER INTERFACE DESIGN

The term user interface (UI) design refers to the process of making interfaces in computerized devices or software with a focus on style or looks. Designers attempt to create designs that users will find pleasurable and easy to use. User interface design generally refers to the graphical user interfaces but it also includes others like the voice controlled ones.

DESIGNING UIs FOR USER DELIGHT

User interfaces are said to be the access points where users get to interact with designs. Graphical user interfaces (abbreviated as GUIs) are designs’ faces and control panels; voice-controlled interfaces include oral-auditory interaction. Gesture based interfaces on the other hand witness users engaging with 3D design spaces through bodily motions. UI design is a craft involving building an essential part of the user experience; it is very often for users to judge designs on the basis of likeability and usability. The objective of designers is to build interfaces that are highly efficient and very usable in an easy way. Therefore, a clear comprehension of the contexts that users find themselves in when making those decisions is crucial. A designer should create an illusion that the users are not interacting with a device so much, instead they are trying to achieve their goals directly and effortlessly in the easiest manner possible. This goes hand in hand with the software’s intangible nature. Instead of putting many icons on a screen, a designer should aim at making the interface effectively invisible, giving users portals via which they can interact with the reality of their tasks directly. The less the users notice that they must use controls, the more likely they will immerse themselves. Your design should also have as many enjoyable features as they are appropriate.

UI vs UX Design

UX design is often confused with UI design. UI design is more concerned with the surface as well as the overall feel of a design. UX on the other hand covers the whole spectrum of the user experience. One analogy is to take UX design as a vehicle having UI design as the driving console. You should create pleasing animations and aesthetics in GUIs that convey the values of your organization and maximizes usability.
